Exploring The Outback-Kakadu National Park
The Australian Kakadu National Park is the largest and probably the most exotic in the country, spanning over 19000 square kilometres. It exudes the very sounds, smells, visions, romance and danger of the Crocodile Dundee country. The park is located within 260 kilometres east of Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. It has been home for the Aborigines who today speak one of the three major languages, Mayali/Gundjeihmi, Jawoyn or Kunwinjku, for more than 50 000 years. The name Kakudu itself comes from Gagudju, one of the main Aboriginal languages ate the start of the 20th century. Half the park is owned by the government while the other half by the aboriginal people whose imprints and history is clearly imprinted on the rock walls of their homes. This made the park to be inscribed a World Heritage site.

Opening hours and prices
Kakadu National Park like most parks in Australia is free to enter but camping fees apply in certain designated areas. It can be visited from Monday to Sunday from as early as 6.00 am to very late in the evening. Location and travelling there
Start your tour to Kakadu from Darwin on a hired bus vehicle. When you reach there, you can take any number of safari tours. A good place to start your tour of discovery is at Bowali Visitor Centre. This is on the Kakadu Highway, 2.5 kilometres from Jabiru close to Kakadu Junction and Arnhem Highways.
