Many travellers who have that wanderlust choose to travel alone. We will consider why this is, and also look at whether one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world is a safe place to travel alone. That country is Australia.
Letâs look at just 3 reasons;
When travelling on your own you have no one to answer to but yourself! This means you have freedom to roam wherever you please. You will most likely have a rough plan in your head as to where you intend to go, but that plan can be totally flexible because if something takes your fancy you can go for it. No group of friends or fellow travellers to please. You can change your plans at any time.
You may have planned to stay in a certain place for a particular length of time before moving on. If you are in a group this becomes more rigid. When you are travelling alone if you like particular places you stay a little longer, if you donât you move on earlier.
Making new friends
This is crucial to many lone travellers, and much of the reason they chose to wander. When you are on your own it makes it far easier to mix and talk with other like-minded wanderers! You can strike up some cracking relationships, share experiences and garner travel information which is beneficial to all.
You may also decide to âhook-upâ with some of them for a leg of your journey, but the joy is you can head off your own way whenever you feel it is time to.
This huge, beautiful country is one of the safest to travel in the world. It is geared up for solo travellers. You will find so many like-minded single people looking for an adventure that it will be impossible to avoid making friends and having a whale of a time.
Common sense is the key!
A little bit of common sense goes a long, long way! When you get to somewhere new in Australia find out from the hostel or hotel you are staying in if there are any areas you should avoid, if there are then avoid them!
If you are going on a walk in the bush or to a remote beach on your own then always make sure you tell your hostel where you are going and when you expect to be back. Never go out without water and sunscreen. These two things are essential!
Common sense and a positive outlook will ensure you are safe while travelling alone in this beautiful country.
