Here are some of the top happenings you should watch out for: Lighting Up Brisbane City’s Christmas Tree
Gather around King George Square for the favourite local tradition of illuminating the Brisbane City’s Christmas Tree, which also happens to be the largest solar-powered Christmas tree in Queensland! This year, why not join Santa, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk, and specially invited guests to welcome the festive season by lighting up the majestic Christmas Tree? With programs such as much-loved Christmas carolling and special Christmas entertainment, this is a perfect way to soak up the festive cheer. Starting from November 27, the huge Christmas tree will brighten up Brisbane sky every night until Christmas Eve. As such, visitors are encouraged to come and visit the square to enjoy this one-of-a-kind sight.

Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular

This is a spectacular light projection show that is held at the City Hall. This year, the city will be bringing you the final act of the Nutcracker story, “The Land of Sweets”. Guests will be immersed in a stunning production as the city’s heroine Clara find herself lost in a captivating world of all things sweet. The show will run every 15 minutes from 7.30pm till midnight, starting from Friday 11 and will be running through until Christmas Eve. And you will certainly find it hard to miss the start of the show since the
City Hall’s clock tower will sound to signify the commencement!

Christmas Fireworks Spectacular

Grab the best spots along the Clem Jones Promenade, South Bank, for the best view of this year’s festive fireworks spectacular, and that is apt to take you on a distinct and magical Christmas journey.
Remarkable firework displays that start from around 8.00 pm to 8.25pm will ignite the whole night sky over the Brisbane River for five consecutive nights from December 17 to December 21.

Myer Christmas Parade & Pantomime

This is a popular Christmas parade that features hundreds of talented and colourful performers, nativity animals, Santa and his reindeers, dancers, drummers, and extra huge inflatable decorations. Guests are encouraged to catch this remarkable parade as it meanders through the Queens Street Mall with all their Christmas favourites. The parade runs from 6.00pm on a daily basis starting at the Edward Street and culminating with a special pantomime taking place at the King George Street.
The pantomime features a fun Christmas spectacle of two villains battling to stop Christmas by slipping Santa a sleeping potion in his dinner. Your job is to help Mrs Claus save the day and kids especially will love this performance!

IGA Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols

Do You Know the School Year Has Ended for Kids in Australia?

For those who do not know, December 11 signifies the last day of the academic year for all Brisbane and
Queensland schools. What this means is that the locals will also have family days out to celebrate the
Christmas season and you can expect high traffic flow in most parts of the city. During this peak travel period, more tourists will be visiting Brisbane so there’s bound to be crowds everywhere, not to mention busy commutes around the city.
