Showcasing free entertainment, culture, food and talent, the Moreton Bay Multicultural Fiesta on the 1st of September will open the gates to a day of wild celebrations of our multicultural society, traditional dances and cultural stalls. It’s going to be a lovely day out, with activities like henna tattoos, kid’s crafts and jumping castle. Brisbane Serbian Festival 2018
With a magnificent showcase of Serbian tradition, culture and values, the Brisbane Serbian Festival is returning on the 2nd of September. The festival has gone bigger and better, and the venue for this year is Dutton Park State School Oval. This family-friendly event will be featuring an amazing line-up of entertainment, including rides, fun activities, folkloric dancing and traditional Serbian music. There will also be a range of tasty delicacies and Serbian sweet to sample, including crepes, Krofne and grilled sausages.
Brisbane Writers Festival 2018
Scheduled to be held from the 6th to 9th of September, the Brisbane Writers Festival will be the 56th annual event of its kinds to showcase some of the most influential thinkers in the world, bringing their futuristic vision for tomorrow. There will be ideas as far ranging as identity, culture, politics, environment, ending epidemics and raising teens. Over 3 days of free public sessions, special events, debates and readings, everything will be open for a discussion. The program will kick off with Geoffrey Robertson Q.C., a human rights activist, who will be sharing a few words about his new book ‘Rather His Own Man’
Moreton Bay Food & Wine Festival
What’s more exciting than a fun-filled food and wine festival heading to Moreton Bay, this 8th and 9th of September? Get yourself treated with an excellent line-up of cuisines, with something to tantalise and tempt everyone’s taste bud. With a spectacular backdrop, the festival will make its way along the foreshore where food lovers will experience quality offerings with a jam-packed program of entertainment. If you want to hop in for some interesting workshop, you can visit the restaurants on the foreshore.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Pine Rivers Park
On the 12th of September, the teddy bears will be having a picnic, with superheroes, capes and costumes of all shapes flying in the Pine Rivers Park. This super-themed picnic will invite you to a morning of free activities, entertainment and music for children up to 5 years of age. Children can say hello to the animals at the farm, dance and sing along to the stage shows and participate in activities and workshops. It’s going to be plenty of fun with free rides including a swinging pirate ship, a Ferris wheel, face painting and jumping castles.
Horti – Couture 2018
Scheduled to take place on the 14th of September, the Horti Couture 2018 is an event which holds interesting appeal for its originality and inventiveness. Bettina Palmer is the person behind this lovely idea. She is passionate about natural art and history and has put a lot of effort in organising inspiring events. Over the years, the fabulous Horti Couture has firmly established its position, and has been embraced by the Sherwood Arboretum and the Friends of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens to become their primary fundraising event.
Great Book Sale and Local Author Expo
On the 15th of September it’s a great opportunity to get hands on a preloved book sale hosted by Capalaba Library. Simultaneously, it will also host the Local Author Expo, giving you a wonderful chance to meet local authors as they showcase their books and speak about their writing experiences.
Oz Comic-Con – Brisbane
Oz Comic-Con will be coming back to Brisbane on the 22nd and 23rd of September at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in Southbank. The event will feature an extensive line-up of content from spectrums including creative workshops, exclusive merchandise, gaming demonstrations, cosplay competitions, and appearance of film stars, voice actors and comic book artists. The event is aimed towards supporting local talent and businesses in offering a platform of Australian endeavours and creativity. Each event will comprise of 5 stages with interactive features to keep the fans excited at the shows.
