Heathcote Wine & Food Festival 2017
For more than a decade, Heathcote Wine & Food Festival has been an annual event, displaying the major industry of the region to hundreds of visitors every year. This year, it will be staged on 7th and 8th of October, with a great chance to sample newly released wines and learn about their origin. This wine growing region is particularly renowned for its world class Shiraz wines, as well as Viognier, Rieslings, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. A Fine Romance: The Magic of Fred Astaire

A 2-day event due to be held on the 14th and 15th of October, the festival is one of the biggest occasions on the social calendar of Melbourne. This German-themed festival will be taking place at the St Kilda Foreshore with plenty to watch out for. There’s a prize reward for best dressed people that is sure to boost your excitement. Pull out your white t-shirts from the wardrobe, and pair it with knicker-bocker length shorts, felt hats and knee-high socks. Look as unique as possible, if you are to grab attention of the judges.
Spring Fling Street Festival 2017
Witness the massive transformation of the Victoria Street and the surrounding laneways on the 15th of October, with an action-packed day of free activities, delicious cuisines, live music and entertainment. The street will come alive with beer gardens, Spring Fling Dog Show, street food and pop up markets. The main objective of the event is to bring the community together with plenty of family fun to be had. The festival is run annually by local volunteers, with main focus on connecting people from different backgrounds, for a day of fun and entertainment.
Marysville Jazz & Blues Weekend
The Australian music legend, Russel Morris will be opening the weekend of Jazz & Blues festival on the 20th of October with his blockbuster performance. This modern music festival is set in the scenic town of Marysville, and has gone big over the years. An extensive line-up of 30 fabulous performers will be taking the stage, including the likes of Justin Yapp, Bo Jenkins, Lloyd Spiegel and Geoff Achison & The Soul Diggers. At the midday of 21st October, there will be a street parade with a traditional ‘New Orleans’ theme.
Noble Park Community Centre Art Show 2017
This non-profit art exhibition will be taking place over a weekend of 21st and 22nd of October, within the City of Greater Dandenong, gathering artists of all ages and abilities. There will be plenty of stuff on display, and a range of awards and prizes on offer. This is a wonderful opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent on this platform and express their creativity by sharing their vision.
Spring Vegan Festival
As the name suggests, it’s not only for the vegan people out there, and ironically, it will take place at the Meat Market in North City. Some of the quirky attractions include an art zone and a vegan high tea. To gain in-depth knowledge about all things vegan, there will be an animal rights cinema, with entry costing merely a couple of dollars. Taking place on the 28th of October, the festival will be hosted by Animal Liberation Victoria, an organisation that stands against animal exploitation by human. It is a great event that centres on the promotion of the vegan diet among local communities.
