Botobolar winery was the first winery in Australia to be certified organic. They use no pesticides herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. Botobolar is the creator of preservative free wine, and have been bottling it since 1984. The Princess Sparkling Merlot comes from an organic dryland vineyard, meaning it does not get irrigated. Only 5% of Australiaâs vineyards can make the claim they are a dryland vineyard.
Bunnamagoo Wines are produced from grapes grown at 880 meters. This climate is cooler than even Tasmania. The cool climate gives the vines true winter dormancy and cool dry summers allow the grapes ample time to ripen. The volcanic soil combined with the ideal climate makes for a very rich and complex flavour. The Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay displays amazing the conditions are this winery. Gooree Park the Thoroughbred of Wines is known for breeding great horses, and the vineyards are known to produce the thoroughbreds of wine. The sparkling wines are no exception. Gooree Park offers two types of bubbly, Sparkling Shiraz and Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay. Robert Stein brought the first cuttings of Rhine Riesling to survive in Australia in 1838. The winery was destroyed during the phylloxera disease and over a century later a great great grandson of the first Stein, Robert, Bob, Stein purchased 75 acres and restarted the family tradition. The first vines planted were Shiraz and they offer a sparkling version of the robust red wine. For lovers of white they also produce a Sparkling Chardonnay.
