Jenolan caves consist of 11 caves that are interspersed with underground rivers and spectacular limestone formations. Jenolan is world’s oldest discovered cave complex. The caves have been dated to be over 340 millions of years old. The area is indigenous to the Gundungurra tribe and has authentic legends attached to the caves.

Each cave tour consists of 1-2 hours of roaming through various types of cave settings delicate Pool of Cerberus cave to the gigantic Lucas cave. You can also choose a cave tour based on your fitness levels the river cave tour is probably the most advanced in the setting while the Imperial cave has lesser number of stairs. For the romantics, there are guided night tours including the very famous legends, Mysteries and Ghosts tours. For the adventure lovers, there is also a possibility of abseiling and other adventure tours in the undeveloped caves.

Accommodation facilities include the Jenolan Caves House. This establishment is a part of the NSW State Heritage Register. You can also stay at the Mountain Lodge, the Gate House, Binoomea cottage or the Jenolan Caves Cottages. The Chisolm restaurant offers fine dining of award winning calibre.

The caves are a 15 degrees Celsius throughout the year regardless of the temperature outside. This makes them the ideal setting for beautiful events organization. The acoustics in certain caves particularly the Cathedral chamber of the Lucas Cave is legendary. The caves are open for tours everyday from 9 am to 5:30 pm. However, you might not get tickets after 4:45 pm. On peak days such as during the NSW school holidays, the ticket office might be open for longer. Early mornings are ideal to begin the tours while avoiding the mid morning rush.
Entry fees may vary according to your tour preferences. On an average, the show cave tours can range anywhere from $22 – $85. The tours for children cost $22 approximately. Adventure caving might be $90 – $200 approximately.
