Why you should visit the Brisbane Botanic Gardens
The Brisbane Botanic Gardens offer visitors a look into native and exotic plant collections that are housed in a tropical display dome. The garden has different sections to it such as a scented garden containing fragrant plants and herbs, a cactus garden, a Japanese garden, a bamboo groove as well as waterfalls! It also has rainforests, tropical greenhouses as well as the largest collection of Australian native rainforest trees in the world!
Visitors can also take a free guided walk through the garden and learn from the staff about the different available plants and interesting intricacies of the garden. They can also visit the freedom wall that is a monument to those that have brought peace and freedom to Australia. They can also learn about bonsais in the bonsai house. Opening hours and prices
Brisbane Botanic Gardens are accessible by free admissions, so no need to worry about tickets! It is open between 8am to 5.30pm everyday for September to March periods and closes half an hour earlier everyday for April to August periods. Take note that pets are not allowed into the gardens!
Location and travelling there
Located at Mt Coot-tha Road, Toowong, it is about a 15-minute drive from Brisbane city centre. Visitors can also reach the gardens by car or by other means of public transport. Car parking is free of charge. However, it is recommended to reach the Brisbane Botanic Gardens by bus charter. Bus charters are efficient and reliable while offering competitive rates. The service is friendly and bus charters also provide on-board tours to places of interest.
Bus charters will also help you arrive punctually as the drivers have good knowledge of routes, road works and traffic delays. Travelling by public buses is alright but the buses can be overly packed or may not arrive on time.
