About Rose Bay

Located 7 kilometres towards the east of the Sydney CBD, Rose Bay is a harbourside destination in New South Wales, providing panoramic views of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The place was named after the Right Honourable George Rose, although the name has been in use ever since 1788. Since the year 1908, Rose Bay has been represented in one of the most popular sporting events in Australia, the National Rugby League, originally known as the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club.

Lyne Park

Named in honour of Sir William Lyne, the 14-acre reserve was reclaimed from the tidal sand flats in 1902. A flying float base was constructed here in 1938, with the first flight leaving for England in July. The last flight was in September 1974 to Lord Howe Island. The park is located on Sydney foreshore, offering a range of regional and local recreational opportunities, providing access to public and commercial ferry services, and to a commercial seaplane base.

Rose Bay Cottage

Built in the year 1834 by John Verge, a colonial architect, the Rose Bay Cottage was constructed for James Holt, who was managing the Cooper Estate at that time. At the time of construction, it was the only house on the property, with probable exception of Henrietta Villa. The home was established on a single storeyed residence with a veranda. Adjoining it was another structure, which was turned into a kitchen. The house was significantly expanded between 1837 and 1850, with the kitchen wing joining to the main house.

The house has had different names over the years, including Salisbury Court and the Rose Bay Lodge. It was encircled by lush gardens with beautiful fountains sourcing the waters from the slopes of Bellevue Hill.

Tingira Memorial Park

Designed in association with McGregor Westlake Architects  and Jane Irwin Landscape Architects, the Tingira Memorial Park is a must visit for anyone travelling to Rose Bay in Sydney. The HMAS Tingira was a training vessel, secured off the shores of Rose Bay from 1912 through to 1927. It is a remembrance spot for the ship along with its crew.  In 2004, the park was reopened as a refurbished estate by the Mayor of Woollahra.

Dumaresq Reserve Beach

The Dumaresq Reserve Beach on the Rose Bay Foreshore is a sandy Bay beach, with a pristine setting, although less ideal for swimming. However, the spot is quite suitable to bring your pet dogs. It enjoys a wonderful location sliced between the Percival Park and Dumaresq Reserve in Rose Bay. It can also be easily accessed from the Tingira Memorial Park.

Rose Bay’s Farmers Market

Each Tuesday, the beautiful Pannerong Reserve in Rose Bay turns into a happening place, as you soak up the idyllic surroundings of the suburb, while stepping away from the supermarket trolley. This is certainly the best produce market in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. It runs all the way from 8 AM in teh morning to 2 PM in the afternoon, with the market bringing the best fruit, butter, bread, yoghurt, milk, eggs, meat, cheese, seafood, along with bountiful of hot food. Camp Cove

It is known to be the first port of call in Sydney Harbour, and among the most coveted areas in the eastern suburbs. This secluded beach has got to offer panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour and the Middle Head. It is primarily a territory of welcoming locals, where sandy real estate is easy to come along with. For a perfect feed at the local pub or cafe, head towards the next beach on Watson’s Bay.
