Upcoming Sydney Fund Raising Events You Can Take Part In Early 2015

In our society, there is always a group of kind souls who are interested in making a difference in other people’s lives. If you are one of these, you can easily do the same when you visit Sydney. The fact that there are many fund raising events that are held in the city means that you will find it very easy to include them in your schedule. If you check the event calendar online, you can see that in the early part of 2015, there are many charity fund raising activities scheduled to take place in Sydney. To ensure that you have an easy time moving around, book bus hire in Sydney to get your travelling group to and fro each of the venues in comfort as well as convenience. Some of the noteworthy fund raising activities include:

wheelchair-raceThe Gio Oz Day 10K

This is a wheelchair race that is scheduled to happen on the 26th of January. Attendance to the event is free, and it will be held on Alfred Street in Sydney. You are encouraged to include this activity in your itinerary, since it’s bound to turn out to be a lot of fun for everyone in attendance.

HRAFF Presents Still Alice

This is a screening of the film ‘Still Alice’ that will be held on the 28th of January from 6.45 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. at Dendy Newton, 261-263 King Street. It will cost only $25, and all the proceeds will go towards HRAFF (the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival).

Still Alice is the screen adaptation of the book by the same name. It showcases the difficulties that people with early onset dementia face by following the life of Alice, who is a 50 year old professor that develops dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease. The movie has received many positive reviews on account of the fact that it brings to light the challenges of this condition in an absorbing manner.

Chances are that after you watch it, you will have a very different view of what exactly dementia is, and it might spur you to become more involved in caring for people who are suffering from it. It also means that paying the fee to view the movie is worth it, since it will go towards a good cause. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and the film is rated M.

The Moran Art Prize Exhibition

The Moran Art Prize Exhibition is held every day until the 15th of February, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Juniper Hall. Some of the benefits of attending this event include the fact that it’s all inclusive, since there is something for all ages. You will also have access to the beautiful garden where you can relax and soak in the beauty of the scenery if you want to.

Live Your Life Ball

Live Your Life Ball is an event that will be held on the 21st of February from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. Charges are $2500 for a table of ten. The event brings together people who are interested in providing support for people living with diabetes, what with it being one of the most common non communicable diseases in the world.

If you are going to visit Sydney on a corporate trip, you can decide to attend this event as part of your corporate social responsibility programme. The fact that there are many other parties that are usually involved in this annual event means that you will get the chance to interact and network with other industry players. In addition to that, you will also have the opportunity to indulge in great food and wonderful entertainment, all of which make the fee more than worth it. It is wise to rent a limo or a car service to ferry your group to the event for the best in convenience.

145Classic: Ride for Youth

This is a charity cycling event that will be held on the 1st of March from 6am to 9pm at the Centennial Park in Sydney. The registration fee for the event is $100, but participants are encouraged to fund raise with a target of $500. The proceeds from the event will be sent to the Sir David Martin Foundation. The cycling event itself is designed to test the endurance and strength of the participants. It has attracted a large number of seasoned cyclists, which means that it’s likely to be a very exciting event for all. The race route will take them through areas such as the Sea Cliff Bridge and the coast.

On account of this, aspiring participants are encouraged to prepare adequately for the event. However, even if you are not interested in actively participating in the cycling, you could still find people to sponsor you so that you can raise money for a worthy cause, and then come and enjoy yourself as a spectator on the material day.

KayakKayak For Kids

This is a charity event that will be held on the 29th of March at Sydney Harbor. The cost of participation is $65 for solo adults, and $85 for double or trio kayaking. The kayak course is 18 Km long. The proceeds from the event are donated to children living with various physical disabilities as well as developmental delay. Even if you are not interested in participating, you can still raise funds towards this noble cause. The spectators are likely to have just as much fun as the people doing the kayaking, since food, drinks and various forms of entertainment will be on offer during and after the race.

Trek To Beat Cancer

If you are a fan of the outdoors and are interested in social awareness programs, you can combine these two by going for the Trek to Beat Cancer event which will be held between 10th and 22nd May. The duration of the entire trek will be 13 days, which makes it suitable for those who are interested in a more challenging outdoor activity. The registration fee is $770 for the entire trip.

All in all, these are just some of the fund raising activities you can take part in if you intend to visit Sydney in the early part of 2015.
